About Layal
Layal is an AI transparency engine. It shows which parts of an AI answer are verified, which have candidate references, and which are just AI-generated — with no partial credit.
Why Layal Exists
AI models sound confident about everything — including things they completely made up. This creates a fundamental trust problem: you can't tell what's real from what's generated.
Layal addresses this with a simple rule: everything starts as AI-Generated, and is only upgraded with proof. We don't give partial credit. We don't treat "close enough" as verified.
The Core Philosophy
- GENERATED by default — All AI output starts untrusted
- Search results ≠ verification — Finding a reference makes it a CANDIDATE, not verified
- Only Truth Kernel verifies — URL reachable + quote found = VERIFIED
- No partial credit — Either verified or stays GENERATED
- Consensus ≠ truth — Multiple models agreeing doesn't make it true
- Stricter is better — Under-claiming is preferred over over-claiming
"Layal doesn't guarantee correctness. Layal guarantees transparency."
What Layal is NOT
- ❌ Hallucination-free (no AI is)
- ❌ Always correct
- ❌ A replacement for research
- ❌ 100% accurate verification
We believe pretending to solve these problems would be worse than acknowledging they exist.
The Truth Kernel
Layal's verification layer — the Truth Kernel — is deliberately simple and uses zero AI. It's deterministic:
- Is the source URL reachable (HTTP 200)?
- Is the quote actually found on the page?
- If both → VERIFIED. If either fails → GENERATED.
That's it. No machine learning. No semantic similarity. No "probably correct." Verification should be boring, predictable, and auditable.
Multi-Model Disagreement
Layal can query multiple AI models and show where they agree or disagree. But here's the key:
Consensus ≠ truth. All models can be wrong together. When models disagree, that's actually the valuable signal — it tells you to be skeptical. When they agree, it's still just AI output that needs verification.
"Layal will never pretend certainty it doesn't have."
Our Promise
Layal wins by restraint, not hype. We will:
- Default to skepticism
- Be honest about what we can't verify
- Never claim to be "hallucination-free"
- Prefer under-claiming over over-claiming
Honesty is the product.
